Project Details/Goals
The project’s core objective was to modernise a cloud-based application, initially constructed with JSP, by migrating it to the React platform utilising the Material UI framework. This encompassed a comprehensive transformation, including an overhaul of Information Architecture and Navigation to elevate user experience. A critical priority was establishing a consistent and adaptable design system. Due to the absence of existing analytics, conducting new research and surveys became imperative for strategic planning. The project also addressed a significant legacy and bespoke SAAS application, involving identifying and automating redundant design elements and features. Overcoming the challenge of executing this overhaul seamlessly amidst ongoing usage necessitated a phased approach, prioritising feature implementation and rigorous testing to ensure a smooth transition without disrupting user workflows.
Strategy
I led high-level research efforts to pinpoint critical features in use while meticulously documenting redundant ones. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, I facilitated “Product Vision” and ‘UX Strategy’ workshops to align objectives and vision. The overarching plan included crafting a comprehensive document outlining feature prioritization, complemented by “Info blurbs” and Interactive walkthroughs to aid users in navigating and adapting to the new design enhancements seamlessly.
